ESA Defect of the Month of March 

Over the past year, ESA inspectors have issued close to 10,000 defects related to Rule 2-034 about the use of approved products. Rule 2-034 requires no person to use electrical equipment for any purpose or in any manner other than the purpose or manner for which it is intended.

Ontario Budget Reaction from Construction Industry

The new targets announced for 2018 are $79 billion on public transit, $25 billion on highways, $16 billion for new schools and renovations and $19 billion in capital grants to hospitals. The province also pledged an additional $784 million in new builds, additions and upgrades to 79 schools. For the first time, the Wynne government allocated money for construction of high-speed rail, with $11 billion pledged for the proposed Toronto to Windsor line.


Renewable energy coming to Gull Bay First Nation 

Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek (KZA)/Gull Bay First Nation (GBFN) and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) are co-developing a microgrid that will use solar, battery storage and grid technology to help reduce diesel use at KZA.

National Day of Mourning - A Time to Remember to Recommit 

April 28th has been designated as the national Day of Mourning. Ceremonies will be held in cities and towns across Canada to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of workplace accidents or occupational disease. These ceremonies are also a time to renew the commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace and prevent further injuries, illnesses and deaths.


2018 Skills Ontario Competition: May 7-9

The event showcases Ontario’s talented youth. Over 20,000 spectators converge on this three-day event to watch 2000 young people compete in one of the 60+ skills contests offered.

In addition to contests, the Skills Ontario Competition has a number of components including a Career Exploration Showcase, Young Women’s Conference and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) Student Conference.


Ontario Construction Secretariat Future Building Forum April 10-12


Future Building is an annual event designed to introduce young career seekers in grades 7-12, aboriginal youth, youth at risk and adults in career transition to the building and construction industry. This unique three-day career exposition provides attendees with an interactive, hands-on experience using a variety of tools and techniques across many of the skilled construction trades.


Construction Design Alliance of Ontario CDAO Members’ Event Construction Lien Act/Bill 142 - Save the Date - May 14, 2018

The (CDAO) is organizing a half-day session for CDAO member associations on the Construction Lien Act/Bill 142.

It will be held at Eagles Nest Golf Course (10000 Dufferin St., Box 403, Maple, ON L6A 1S3) on May 14, 2018. Start time will be approximately 8:30 a.m. and will cost approximately $40 to $50 per person. The session will run until about noon.
