MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ECAO

Happy New Year to all; a year full of things that have never been. As we looked back at 2018 with pride at the manner in which our community came together, we recognize that there are far better things ahead. With our expanded and stronger electrical community the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) welcomes 2019, and anticipates tremendous accomplishments with and for our members and partners.

As we all dedicated ourselves to building our community in 2018, a challenge that continues to drive us, 2019 is the year in which we ask for your commitment to significantly increase member and partner engagement, participation, and involvement in our community. A vibrant community demands no less.

Ministry of Labour Publishes New ESA Poster
HICKS MORLEY

The Ministry of Labour has published a revised version of the ESA poster (Version 8.0) to reflect the recent changes to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 made by Bill 47, Making Ontario Open for Business Act, 2018. Employers are currently required to post the poster in a conspicuous place in the workplace, among other things.

Employers should note that Bill 66, Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act, 2018, introduced by the Ontario government on December 6, 2018, would remove the obligation for employers to post the poster in the workplace. Employers would still be obligated to provide a copy of the poster to their employees. Bill 66 would also transfer responsibility for the poster from the Minister of Labour to the Director of Employment Standards.

ECAO members may wish to print the new poster by clicking here.
