CAM News & Updates
President's Message

Now that hockey and football season are well underway (hey the good football – CFL – has been going on since June!), you have no doubt caught yourself armchair-coaching your favourite team on to victory.  So, tell me, have you ever read our newsletter or magazine or seen a post on social media and put on your “coaching hat” to comment on what CAM should be doing?

Well if you have, we’d love you to get out of your armchair and give us a hand!  We have a bunch of committees that meet once a month for an hour (maximum) by phone to help me work through issues or opportunities presented to CAM.  We’re always looking for new blood to help spark fresh ideas!

We have several committees – Membership, Marketing & Internet, International, and Supplier – and we have two event committees – one for the Annual Conference and one for the Annual Golf Tournament.  We are also looking into forming an Independent Mover member group and, if the regional meetings are a go (we’ll be making that decision soon), small groups to help me out locally while we plan the regional workshops.  If you have an hour to spare once a month for six or seven months of the year (that’s only seven hours in all!) and have a particular interest, feel free to pop me an email and we can chat.

But do you really want to be involved?  We are always interested in speaking to folks who would like to get involved by participating on our Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors meet for an hour by phone from September to April, with one longer face-to-face meeting on the Sunday of our conference.  Our Annual General Meeting is coming up in a month on November 19th, so if you are interested and want to discuss what’s all involved, please do reach out to me.  We’d love to be able to put you on our slate of nominations.

It’s been real fun to get your positive feedback to the direction CAM is going in.  I know a few of you have already been in touch with me about any opportunity to get involved with CAM and it will be great to have you on board.  We are in a time of continued fresh beginnings, so if you want to, please be in touch.  Unfortunately, you’ll have to provide your own Lazy Boy and popcorn.

CAMx280918.jpgBuilding Blocks for the Next Generation Performance is our conference theme this year. We're planning sessions that will help companies understand the challenges that today's trends present and the opportunities that await to help you build your company.

Trade Show

CAMw280918.jpgThere’s so much more to the conference than the outstanding series of speakers and topics! A major part of getting together is to meet up and reconnect with colleagues and suppliers. Our Exhibit Hall is next to the conference room and we know that our Exhibitors are excited for the opportunity to connect and tell you about some of their new products or improved services. Many will be having draws or are offering conference discounts – we have 14 hours of trade show time, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to talk to each supplier.

Exhibitors - Do you have your booth booked yet?

We’d love to have you participate in our trade show this year. We have a lovely, large and sunny exhibit room at the Crowne Fallsview. Pricing remains the same as 2017. Please click here for the registration form.

Stalker wins a 55" Flat screen TV

Thanks to all generous people who attended our recent Golf Tournament at Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton and helped Livingston Transportation Inc. raise money for Move For Hunger during their putting contest. Thanks also for bringing bags and bags of non-perishable food items for the local food bank in Ajax. Congratulations to Mary Stalker of XN Financial (below in pink). She was the winner of Livingston’s putting contest grand prize giveaway by beating CAM’s Past Chairman Perry Thorne of Greg & Sons Moving and Storage in a nail-biting putt-off after the tournament. We appreciate George Hutchison, Troy Colmer, Leanna Santorsola and Danielle Magliaro for spending the day with us.
