CAM News & Updates
President's Message

As we prepare for year-end and our upcoming Annual General Meeting on November 19th, we have been looking over our analytic data (aka website numbers) and are thrilled to see a huge improvement over recent years. For the first 8 months of this year up to August 31st, we have seen a 12% increase in website traffic with 19,673 visitors checking out compared to 17,555 over the same time in 2017.

What’s really exciting is that we are up over 13,500 visitors to the member directory - a whopping 21% increase over last year. Clearly, our messaging “To find a trusted, reliable mover, contact "” is resonating with the public. This is further evidenced with a downtrend in the number of referrals coming through the office phone over the last couple of months. More consumers are checking out the CAM website and doing their own research. That is very consistent with everything we know about consumers today and we are excited to be even more of a resource that we have been in the past.

We know that we are catching the eye of the public on our social media platforms as our followers are increasing. Facebook has 323% more followers over this time last year. Our Instagram page is now up and active with new interest weekly and LinkedIn continues to be a fantastic source of professional information for CAM with about 20,000 impressions so far in 2018.

We see CAM’s backing and referrals to your company as a major benefit to your membership. If you have a social media plan, make sure that you like our social media and link our website with yours. Being a CAM member can give you a valuable edge over your non-CAM-member competitors and, in this completely digital world, you need all the help you can get.

I, for one, am looking forward to Rebecca Mountain’s presentation at the conference regarding developing a digital or social media strategy that can generate low-cost, high-converting leads. In CAM’s case, the leads we are looking for are consumers to refer to our members. Our starting strategy is working … now it’s time for CAM to beef it up. It will be a great session for all of us!

Don’t forget to get booked in for the conference. Our very reasonable hotel room rate of $115 is going to hit a deadline of October 16th before we know it!

Take Our Kids to Work Day

Take Our Kids to Work Day, taking place on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018, is an annual event where students step into their future for a day and get a glimpse into the working world. The day involves students in Grade 9, Senior 1 (Manitoba) and Secondary III (Québec) spending the day in the workplace of a parent, relative, friend or volunteer host, where they experience and learn about the world of work.

If your moving company doesn’t have any Grade 9 students of your own, why not reach out to your local school and see if there are kids who aren’t paired up with anyone yet? Get some kids, get them geared up, and send them out on the worksite. Don’t just have them clean up the warehouse … let them learn to calculate weight, or pack books, and teach them why a truck gets packed the way it does. Showcase your business and how interesting the moving industry can be.

Trade Show

CAMw280918.jpgThere’s so much more to the conference than the outstanding series of speakers and topics! A major part of getting together is to meet up and reconnect with colleagues and suppliers. Many will be having draws or are offering conference discounts – we have 14 hours of trade show time, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to talk to each supplier.
