Osgoode Hall Certificate in Gaming Law

CGA logo 300.jpgThe Canadian Gaming Association is proud to be a co-sponsor of the Osgoode Certificate in Gaming Law, a professional development course being offered by Osgoode Hall Law School and program directors Don Bourgeois and Harley Redlick.

The course runs between April 12, 2017 and May 12, 2017 and spans five days over five weeks, either in person or online. Each day will touch on a different module: the regulation of gaming and its legal framework; public policy issues and protecting the public interest; consumer protection issues; operating in a broader context (First Nations gaming); and the future of gaming law.

Created by industry professionals for the Canadian gaming industry, the Osgoode Certificate in Gaming Law will provide all participants with a solid foundation of gaming law. No law degree is required. More information is available here.

Ipsos Summit research

CGA logo 300.jpgThe Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) commissioned a research study from Ipsos in Spring 2016 for the Canadian Gaming Summit. The data was presented by Paul Lauzon during the Canadian Gaming Summit in Ottawa in June 2016.

The focus for the study was to examine how casinos could improve the overall offer, not only to keep their current visitors returning, but to also appeal to those who are not currently visiting.

Running 130 slides, the study examines barriers to play, the opportunity for sports betting, how to attract the millennial generation, and whether there are innovations that can entice slot players to continue playing regularly (and ensure the experience stays fresh).

You can access the survey on the CGA’s website under “Industry Facts”, and we encourage the Canadian gaming industry to read the findings, especially the future state of casinos and what millennials think of a new casino concept.
