WHMIS 2015 – A New Look at Old Hazards
If you’re like most working Canadians, you’ve probably become familiar with WHMIS, the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. This system provides us with “the Right to Know” – that is, the right to know what hazardous materials lurk in our workplaces, as well as how to handle them safely and to respond to emergencies. By now, the WHMIS system is like an old friend – comfortable and stable. But change is coming to WHMIS, and Canadian workplaces must prepare for it.

To Sell More Effectively to Your Market, Identify Their Corporate Culture!
Why is it important to know your target’s corporate culture? A company’s culture is often directly related to its openness to new products and services. Organizational culture can be divided into five categories:

Jan/san Distributors Should Rely On Sales Analytics, Not Instincts
In a perfect world, distributors have databases in place that house bits and bytes that will in turn, via some basic reporting, give them customer demographic information, order patterns, sales, profitability, inventory on hand, vendor history, etc.
Tips For Avoiding An Ice Melt Shortage
As temperatures soar into the 90s and the days are at their longest, the last thing on any jan/san distributor’s mind is the frigid weather, snow and sleet that’s right around the corner. But, according to ice melt vendors, this is exactly when distributors should be thinking about preparing themselves and their clients to have enough ice melt to weather the winter season that is invariably on its way.
Cleaning Industry Members Hit The Strip For ISSA/INTERCLEAN 2015
In Las Vegas, it’s either go big or go home, and ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America 2015 is definitely going big. Much like the last time the cleaning industry descended on Las Vegas in 2013, ISSA is expecting a record turnout for ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America 2015, taking place Oct. 20-23, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. An estimated 16,000-plus industry leaders will have the opportunity to network, learn and visit with more than 700 cleaning industry suppliers from 30 countries.
How To Make Your Business Stand Out
Impact 2 — Non-differentiated Businesses. Over the years, distributors who locked into the status quo would conclude that the business of distribution was that of buying in bulk, breaking that bulk into smaller orders, and delivering those orders across town. Today, however, many distributors are coming to the conclusion that the old style of distribution — being the sole provider of logistics and information — no longer provides the differentiation it once did.

What To Look For When Testing Cleaning Solutions
When cleaning carpets and furniture or when removing spots, we are often told to first test the cleaning solution "in an inconspicuous area." However, we are rarely told exactly how to conduct this test. And even if we do "wing it," exactly what are we looking for?

US demand for janitorial equipment and supplies (excluding chemical products) is forecast to increase 2.2% per year through 2019 to $7.1 billion, continuing the recovery that began in the latter part of the 2009-2014 period. Significant pent-up demand for automated floor cleaning equipment will drive advances.
