Amendments to O.Reg 524/98
EBR

A decision has been made to implement the proposal to amend O. Reg. 524/98 to the Environmental and Regulatory registries that would expand the list of exemptions from section 9 of the Environmental Protection Act (EPA). O.Reg. 14/17, amending O. Reg. 524/98 came into force on February 3, 2017.

While these amendments may not significantly impact the aggregate industry, they will reduce the regulatory burden on more complex activities whose emissions will still require the approval of an Environmental Compliance Approval. The regulation can be found on the government’s e-Laws website: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/980524.
