ISS Secures Extension With Swedish Public Transit Firm
ISSA

ISS has extended its contract with Storstockholms Lokaltrafik AB (SL) for an additional seven years.SL oversees land-based public transportation for the city of Stockholm, Sweden. The US$35.7 million contract extension calls for ISS to develop and manage ticketing services for SL.

ABM Acquires CGA Services

ABM has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire GCA Services Group from affiliates of Thomas H. Lee Partners, LP and Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division for approximately US$1.25 billion in cash and stock. Per the terms of the deal, ABM will purchase GCS for $851 million in cash and $399 million in shares of ABM common stock.

Restoring power to electrical systems post flood

The owner of a college facility in Mississauga, Ontario, was recently convicted and fined almost $20,000 for hiring an unlicensed contractor to complete electrical work on site. The worker died on the job after being electrocuted while working on wiring that carried 347 volts of electricity, which had not been disconnected from power.

Canada enforces new regs for handling workplace asbestos

Canada enforced changes to occupational health and safety regulations on asbestos today. The federal government also declared new amendments under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, updates to national building codes to prohibit the use of asbestos in new construction and renovation projects and support for listing chrysotile asbestos to the Rotterdam Convention as a hazardous material.

Canada’s Best Restroom finalists announced
