A Montreal ice making innovation has earned a 2017 ASHRAE award for excellence in non-comfort cooling refrigeration. The retrofit project involved the conversion of 47 municipal skating/hockey rinks from hydrofluorocarbon (HCFC) to ammonia refrigerant.
